A major crisis has arisen in the nation’s parking facilities. Installation of fully automated guidance, control and communication/navigation systems has now become so common that the following phenomena are being reported.
At closing times for local bars, theaters and restaurants hundreds of cars begin flashing their headlights and tooting their horns in an attempt to aid their owner to identify them. The resulting confusion is exacerbated by the automatic homing functions that have been recently introduced. Car owners remotely activate the homers and amid the confusion caused by the flashing headlights and horns tooting, cars begin to seek out their owners at the entrances to parking garages.
There are reported cases of several dozen cars charging driverless at each other as their collision avoidance radars slam on the brakes and then gun the engine in an attempt to guide the cars around the resulting driverless traffic jams. Human parking attendants have been injured and many have abandoned their places of employment in fear or disgust. “If the damn cars are so smart, who the hell needs us” one was heard to say, as he dodged nimbly around a tooting, flashing grid lock of empty automobiles.
There are rumors of illegal “commmand-override” devices becoming available on the black market that allow frustrated motorists to gain control of unmanned cars that are in their way and run them off the road. In turn, there are “counter-command-override” (CCO) devices and, of course,CCCO devices can not be far away. The prospect of enabling the cars themselves to override the overrides has public safety authorities in near panic.
Installation of automatic navigation devices, now standard for several years, has resulted in a new wave of car disappearances. It seems that actual car thefts are way down ever since Lo-Jack and similar devices have allowed police to recover stolen cars in minutes.             Cars are now disappearing because of ambiguities in their navigation programs. For example, there are no less than 27 cities named “Columbus” in the United States and even a couple in Canada. There are “Main Streets” in almost all of those cities, as well as “Elm” and other similarly named streets. When owners direct their cars to pick them up at “Elm and Main” in “Columbus”, for example, and neglect to identify the state, they are often faced with the prospect of calling all 27 “Columbuses” and asking the police departments to check at Elm and Main for their cars.
Please stay tuned for further developments, as a fully automated, empty Boeing 747 is now missing because the last flight crew neglected to designate whether it was to fly to Paris, France or Paris, Illinois.
          One “back to the simple life” movement had hardly announced that they were starting a major campaign to re-establish the bicycle as a primary city transportation device when a local group of computer nerds announced perfection of their bicycle auto pilot.

A LETTER TO AMERICA FROM A DODGE DEALER

I sit here after having read his letter and concur in his question: How could this happen in the United States of America ??

The answer is :
THIS IS NO LONGER THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA THAT WE INHERITED, GREW UP IN, LIVED IN, FAUGHT FOR AND LOVED.
WE ARE LIVING IN A WARPED, DISTORTED CARICATURE OF THAT AMERICA.
IT IS A SICK RESIDUE OF OUR ONCE GREAT NATION; ONE IN WHICH THERE IS NO LONGER ANY ESTABLISHED LAW, WHERE RANDOM DECISIONS OF
UNELECTED BUREAUCRATS GO UNCHALLENGED, WHERE THERE ARE NO ESTABLISHED INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS, NO RESPONSES TO GROSS INJUSTICES,
AND NO RECOURSE WHEN PRIVATE PROPERTY IS RANDOMLY EXPROPRIATED AND AWARDED TO SOMEONE ELSE WHO HAS NO LEGITIMATE CLAIM UPON IT.
THESE ATROCIOUS ACTIONS ARE SO UBIQUITOUS, SO NUMEROUS, SO BLATANT THAT OUR LEGAL SYSTEM (THAT IS DESIGNED TO BE OPERATED BY
THE VERY PEOPLE PERPETRATING THESE GRIEVOUS TRANSGRESSIONS) HAS BECOME TOTALLY OVERWHELMED AND RENDERED HELPLESS.
MY CONCLUSION:
AS THESE AFFLICTIONS LIE OUTSIDE THE BOUNDS OF EFFECTIVE LEGAL RECOURSE, AND THE LEGAL SYSTEMS THAT WOULD IMPLEMENT SUCH
LEGAL RECOURSE HAVE BEEN EXPROPRIATED BY THE TRANSGRESSORS, THERE REMAINS ONLY ACTIVE CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE AS A REMEDY.
AS WAS SO CLEARLY SAID BY TOM PAINE (QUOTING FROM “THE CRISIS”)
“December 23, 1776
THESE are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. YOU MAY, AS YOU SIT AND READ THIS, STILL EXPERIENCE THE ILLUSION OF NORMALCY. YOUR CHILDREN ARE PLAYING, THE TV IS ON, YOUR CAR IS STILL IN THE GARAGE, THERE’S MONEY IN YOUR BANK ACCOUNT.
BUT WE, EVERY LAST ONE OF US IN THE USA, IS LIKE THE CARTOON CHARACTER WHO HAS WALKED OFF THE CLIFF BUT DOES NOT FALL BECAUSE HE HAS NOT YET NOTICED HIS CONDITION.

REALLY READ IT.
THEN CONSIDER WHAT HAD TO HAPPEN IN THIS FREE LAND FOR THIS TO HAPPEN TO EVEN ONE OF US ?
NOT TOO MANY YEARS AGO THERE WAS A SLOGAN USED BY SOME GROUPS: “HUMAN RIGHTS, NOT PROPERTY RIGHTS ! “
THINK; WHAT DOES IT BENEFIT A MAN TO STAND NAKED IN A HOWLING WILDERNESS SHOUTING “I’M FREE ! I’M FREE !”
JUST YESTERDAY WE PAID RESPECT TO THOSE HEROES WHO STORMED THE CLIFFS AT NORMANDY IN 1944, AND FAUGHT TO GIVE US ANOTHER SIXTY FIVE YEARS OF FREEDOM.
THEIR DEDICATION, AND THEIR UNHESITATING WILLINGNESS TO DIE IN THAT JUST CAUSE MAY YET BE PROVEN TO HAVE BOUGHT ONLY A SHORT INTERVAL BEFORE THE SHROUD OF TYRANNY DESCENDED AGAIN ON THIS ONCE FREE LAND.
RIGHT NOW, AS YOU READ WHAT IS WRITTEN HERE, RESOLVE THAT AS LINCOLN SAID AT GETTYSBURG:
“..from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion—that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain—that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom— and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”
MANY YEARS AGO WHEN I WAS A YOUNG BOY, I HEARD A WOMAN ON THE RADIO TELL OF HAVING BEEN PRESENT AS A YOUNG WOMAN AT GETTYSBURG WHEN LINCOLN GAVE HIS ADDRESS.
SHE SAID SHE REMEMBERED EXACTLY HOW HE SAID THOSE WORDS. SHE SAID SHE HAS HEARD MANY REPEAT THAT SPEECH SINCE, BUT THAT THEY ALWAYS MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE.
THEY SAY: “… OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE AND FOR THE PEOPLE..”
BUT SHE SAID PRESIDENT LINCOLN SAID: “…OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE, AND FOR THE PEOPLE.
WE, YOU AND I, OUR FAMILIES AND OUR FRIENDS ARE “THE PEOPLE‘.
OUR COUNTRY HAS SENT ITS YOUNG INTO MANY FOREIGN LANDS TO BRING THEM A MEASURE OF THE FREEDOM WE HAVE ENJOYED FOR MORE THAN A HUNDRED GENERATIONS.
WHAT IRONY THAT NOW THAT WE HAVE LOST OURS, THERE IS NO ONE TO RESCUE US !
PERHAPS THIS IS JUST CARRYING OUT JEFFERSON’S DECLARATION:
“The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.”
SO WHAT CAN WE DO?
EACH OF US SITTING IN OUR EASY CHAIRS, READING THESE AND SIMILAR EXHORTATIONS, AND ACKNOWLEDGING OUR SITUATION, WHAT CAN WE DO?
WE CAN :
1. RECOGNIZE AND ACKNOWLEDGE, WITHOUT CARPING OR EQUIVOCATION, THAT I HAVE DESCRIBED OUR CONDITION ACCURATELY.
2. TALK TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW ABOUT THAT CONDITION AND THE ABSOLUTE NECESSITY FOR RESISTING AND REVERSING IT.
3. SEEK AND ACTIVELY SUPPORT THOSE WHO ALSO RECOGNIZE OUR CONDITION, AND WHO RESOLVE TO REVERSE OUR SLIDE INTO TYRANNY.
4. JOIN THOSE WHO DEMONSTRATE, SPEAK, WRITE AND CAMPAIGN TO REVERSE WHAT HAS HAPPENED, VIA THE BALLOT BOX, IN THE MEDIA AND IN ALL PUBLIC DISCOURSE.
5. AND VOTE !  IT MAY YET BE POSSIBLE TO REVERSE OUR SLIDE INTO DESPOTISM VIA THE BALLOT BOX. BUT NO AVERAGE TURN OUT OF LESS THAN 50% WILL BE ADEQUATE. THIS
    TIME IT WILL BE FOR ALL THE MARBLES. THIS TIME IT WILL NOT BE BETWEEN DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS, BUT BETWEEN THOSE WHO DEMAND OUR COUNTRY BACK, AND
    THOSE WHO HAVE TAKEN IT FROM US. IT IS WE WHO HAVE LET THIS HAPPEN; AND WE MAY YET BRING ABOUT ITS REVERSAL.
GOD HELP US AND OUR CHILDREN, AND OUR CHILDREN’S CHILDREN IF WE FAIL.

My name is George C. Joseph. I am the sole owner of Sunshine Dodge-Isuzu, a family owned and operated business in Melbourne, Florida. My family bought and paid for this automobile franchise 35 years ago in 1974. I am the second generation to manage this business.

We currently employ 50+ people and before the economic slowdown we employed over 70 local people.  We are active in the community and the local chamber of commerce. We deal with several dozen local vendors on a day to day basis and many more during a month.  All depend on our business for part of their livelihood.

    We are financially strong with great respect in the market place and community.  We have strong local presence and stability.  I work every day the store is open, nine to ten hours a day. I know most of our customers and all our employees.  Sunshine Dodge is my life.

 On Thursday, May 14, 2009 I was notified that my Dodge franchise, that we purchased, will be taken away from my family on June 9, 2009 without compensation and given to another dealer at no cost to them.

My new vehicle inventory consists of 125 vehicles with a financed balance of 3 million dollars.  This inventory becomes impossible to sell with no factory incentives beyond June 9, 2009. Without the Dodge franchise we can no longer sell a new Dodge as “new,” nor will we be able to do any warranty service work.

    Additionally, my Dodge parts inventory, (approximately $300,000) is virtually worthless without the ability to perform warranty service. There is no offer from Chrysler to buy back the vehicles or parts inventory.

    Our facility was recently totally renovated at Chrysler’s insistence, incurring a multi-million dollar debt in the form of a mortgage at Sun Trust Bank.

    HOW IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA CAN THIS HAPPEN?

    THIS IS A PRIVATE BUSINESS NOT A GOVERNMENT ENTITY.

    This is beyond imagination!  My business is being stolen from me through NO FAULT OF OUR OWN.  We did NOTHING wrong.

    This atrocity will most likely force my family into bankruptcy. This will also cause our 50+ employees to be unemployed. How will they provide for their families?  This is a total economic disaster.

    HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN IN A FREE MARKET ECONOMY IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA?

F-15 Lands with ONE Wing..!!

This is indeed amazing, but it is several years old … and that does not reduce how amazing it is!
The explanation is, I believe, like this:
Modern fighter pilots do not directly control the aerodynamic flight controls, nor even the engine.
Their control movements are inputs to a central computer that interprets them as “desired aircraft responses”.
Then the computer moves the control surfaces as it decides will produce the indicated aircraft response.
So when the Israeli pilot “directed” the flight control system to get out of the spin and return to level flight the
computer started moving the remaining controls in the mode it ”thought” would produce the requested outcome.
When normal deflections did not achieve that, it increased deflections until it got the response desired.
It could have run out of control authority and the aircraft would have remained uncontrollable, but the amazing
outcome was that there was enough control authority remaining to regain control … and fly home!
This is perhaps an early indicator of where we are going as a human civilization … inadvertently turning
over decision making authority to our machines without even realizing it … and then suddenly discovering that we
are no longer “in charge”!
Recent in flight  images of the F-22, the most advanced current fighter, show very complex control surfaces and
seemingly disorganized deflections even in what appears to be level flight.
I believe the F-22 is perhaps the first aircraft with controls too complex for the pilot to control directly … except
that (I am not cleared for this information) there may be a “simplified” back up mode for use in the unlikely event that
the multiple, redundant flight director computers all failed.
But I doubt that.
