Back several months ago I read in the LA Times that 550 metric tons of yellow cake had been sold to the Canadian Government by the government of Iraq, and it had arrived at a Canadian port.
Canada will use it as a source of uranium for its nuke power plants.

This blew me away for at least two reasons:

1. Isn’t this absolute proof that Hussein did have WMD plans that were far enough along to warrant purchasing the raw materials for refined uranium? And therefore the idiotic “Bush lied, people died” is totally refuted?
2. Isn’t this absolute proof that Hussein DID buy the stuff from Niger (the only likely source), that the Italian and French Intelligence reports were correct, and furthermore that the trial that eventually destroyed Scooter Libby was without merit? Because the NY Times article in which Amb. Joseph Wilson claimed that his investigation of Niger showed that Hussein had NOT had a team there purchasing Yellow Cake was a lie? Is that why the ballyhooed book that Valerie Plaime Wilson was supposed to get a $ million for never appeared?

(There are, of course WhyWhy have no Republicans leaped on this revelation to prove that there obviously WAS an Iraqi WMD program, and that it was far enough along to need a uranium supply in Iraq?
