The REAL House Vote
A suggestion … I think many are being naive when they say the House Health Care Bill “barely passed by three votes.”
That is numerically true, but it reveals a lack of understanding of how such Congressional vote strategies work.
Pelosi first does an internal poll that determines how each member intends to vote.
Currently the Democrats have such a strong majority that they can afford to “lose” some votes and still pass what they wish.
Pelosi will determine how many votes she can afford to “lose”, and then allow that many Democrats who represent “swing” districts where re-election may depend upon their having voted against the Health Care Bill to vote “nay”.
That’s how they arrive at a two (lacking the Louisiana Rep’s vote) vote margin for passage.
It was never really a “close” vote.
We are now experiencing “single party governance” like North Korea, Cuba, etc.
