The past as a gauge of our future?
OK … what’s the message here?
When we try to think of what our world will be like fifty years from now, just look at how far off the “experts” were fifty years ago.
This was 15 years before Apollo 11, by which time computers had already gotten much smaller or the Moon mission would have been impossible.
Realize that things have speeded up tremendously since 1954, so the change rate in the future will exceed the one since 1954 by a wide margin.
THAT we can say with some assurance …. of course, I’m assuming that some of the current threats to the survival of our whole civilization are overcome.

PS: Another thought … the distinguished gentleman on the left … perhaps 60 years old or so … born in say, 1890 ??? Tempus doth indeed fugit.
